The Finest Graces

What news, what news do I impart in this the budding spring?
With joyous hearts and open arms Atlantia crowns a King.

With joy, with joy lift up your hearts and let your praises ring,
To this great man, this lonely lion, this fire-tested King.

But Hark, hark, with gentle thought upon your being bring,
The finest graces of the heart are met within the Queen.

For Kings are made of harsher elk, in battle feel the sting.
Not loved by all, when fate does call a heavy hand to bring.

To Queens let art and song impart and with great solace bring
A healing balm to those who keep the conscience of a King.

For love and beauty are the things that we intrust to Queens.
For strength and courage are the traits we look for in a King.

For who is stronger than the dove when peace on wing she brings?
Or more courageous than the one who dares to council kings?

So stand now hushed at her ascent and let your silence sing,
The finest graces of the heart are met within our Queen!

Though Michael wears a crown of gold, of Seonaid I would sing,
The finest graces of the heart are met within our Queen!

Documentation / Explanation (Razo):

This song was premiered at one of the various Coronations of Michael and Seonaid, several years ago, the same night as I premeried the Lodge Song. I learned a valuable lesson that night, which I have repeated only once (to my lost). That is, to only premiere one song at a time, that one piece does not overshadow the other.

Duchess Seonaid is a lady of great nobility, whom I am honored to call friend. This song was commissioned by Duke Anton Tremayne, and written to honor her.
